How to give Medialake access to a Google Ads account without allowing campaign, budget, billing or account changes.
Before you start
Medialake only needs Read-only access to the Google Ads account you want to connect.
Our Google Ads Manager Account (MCC) ID is:
>275-593-6642
Google Ads calls an individual advertising account an account, rather than a page. You must be an administrator of that account to invite a user or approve a manager link request.
>Important: Google Ads does not provide a Read-only setting for the link between a client account and a Manager Account (MCC). Linking an account to an MCC may allow Standard or Administrative users in that MCC to make changes. If access must be enforced as strictly read-only by Google, use the direct user invitation below.
Recommended: invite a Read-only user
Ask your Medialake contact for the Google Account email address to invite. Do not send the invitation to the MCC ID; Google Ads accepts an email address for a user invitation.
Sign in to the individual Google Ads account you want Medialake to access.
Open Admin, then select Access and security.
On the Users tab, select the blue plus button.
Enter the Google Account email address supplied by Medialake.
Under Account access level, select Read only.
Optionally, set an access expiry date.
Select Send invitation.
Tell your Medialake contact that the invitation has been sent. We will accept it from the invitation email.
Do not select Standard, Admin or Billing. These levels provide permissions that the Medialake connection does not need.
Check the access level
After the invitation has been accepted:
Return to Admin → Access and security → Users.
Find the invited Medialake email address.
Confirm that Access level is Read only and the invitation is no longer pending.
A Read-only user can view campaigns, use planning tools, view billing information, and view or run reports. They cannot edit campaigns, billing details, product links or user access.
If an MCC connection is required
Medialake can send a manager link request from MCC 275-593-6642 after you provide the Customer ID of the Google Ads account to be connected.
An administrator can accept the request by following these steps:
Sign in to the individual Google Ads account.
Open Admin, then select Access and security.
Select the Managers tab.
Under Link request, find MCC 275-593-6642.
Confirm that the request is expected, then select Accept.
Do not make the MCC an administrative owner of the account.
>MCC permission limitation: accepting a manager link does not present a Read-only option. Even without administrative ownership, Standard or Administrative users in the linked MCC may be able to edit campaigns. Use an MCC link only if that wider manager access is acceptable. Use the direct user invitation when Google must enforce Read-only access.
Removing access
To remove a directly invited user:
Go to Admin → Access and security → Users.
Find the Medialake email address.
Select Remove access in the Actions column.
To remove an MCC link, an account administrator can use the Managers tab in Access and security. Disconnect the Google Ads source in Medialake as well if you want data collection to stop.
